Mario Luckett, LPC,

Mario is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Hamdard Health Alliance. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from DePaul University, where his undergraduate studies focused on the impact of declining memory in individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia-related disorders, and schizophrenia. During this time, Mario began working in the mental health field, providing services to clients ranging in age from seven to over 90 years old, a role he maintained until 2019.

Mario returned to DePaul University to complete a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, where he concentrated on workplace sexual identity stress management and its impact on individual identity development within professional environments. He completed clinical training at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in the Behavioral Health Department, providing treatment to individuals struggling with severe substance use disorders and those dually diagnosed with substance use and mental health disorders. Mario later completed postgraduate clinical training at Safe Place Counseling, working full time with clients across the lifespan.

He is a Certified Anger Management Specialist (Level II) and has received extensive training in working with incarcerated individuals and those with significant legal involvement, including both juvenile and adult populations. His clinical experience also includes working with individuals affected by cognitive memory decline, anger-related concerns, military-related issues, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, and anxiety disorders.

Mario is currently pursuing doctoral-level training at the Institute for Clinical Social Work, focusing on psychodynamic therapeutic techniques and principles. He aspires to attend medical school to become a trained psychiatrist with a specialization in neuropsychiatry, integrating his clinical mental health expertise with advanced medical and neurological training.

Outside of his professional work, Mario values maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle. He enjoys running, biking, and staying physically fit, and finds personal fulfillment in traveling with an emphasis on cultural immersion, which he sees as essential to personal growth and broadening perspective
